Using Anointing Oil for Spiritual Warfare
People or groups were anointed in the Bible to set them apart, to sanctify them for God and His work. In ancient Israel, three classes of people were anointed: prophets, priests, and kings. It is fascinating to read how these three groups interceded for the people before God. Aaron and his sons prayed as the first priests, the prophet Samuel prayed for the people, and King Solomon prayed for the Temple in I Kings 8. Their people were anointed, and they prayed for them. In addition to being a prophet, Jesus is also our king and priest (Mark 6:4)! According to Revelation 1:6.
In our capacity as sons and soldiers of God, we fight against the forces of spiritual darkness. Our role as prophets, priests, and kings is to stand before the throne of God under the New Covenant established by the blood of Jesus. The believers in Jesus the Messiah are engaged in a spiritual battle rather than a physical one. Messiah means anointed. By the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus was anointed. According to Jesus, He was anointed by the Spirit of the Lord (Luke 4:18), but He was also given expensive aromatics at His birth and wrapped in them at His death. In preparation for prayer and spiritual battle, we can walk in His footsteps and anoint ourselves with oil.
By anointing ourselves with oil, we can set ourselves apart for prayer and spiritual warfare. This is whether it is in conjunction with fasting, praise and worship, or some other spiritual discipline. It may be necessary for you to spend entire nights in prayer and meditation, as our Messiah did. Perhaps you need to spend entire days fasting and praying alone, as He did. The prayer oils available at Mount of Olives Anointing Oils are specially designed with specific Bible verses in mind. Depending on your needs, you may choose the oil that perfectly suits you. When you anoint yourself with your chosen oil, meditate on the Bible story associated with it. Then, walk boldly into the battle, confident that you are fighting alongside the Son of God.
